Objectives

  • Describe the importance of exposure and not the actual dose in identifying the therapeutic range in drug development
  • List the factors that may influence different exposures among patients, despite the same dose having been administered
  • Describe pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic relationships and how they help to identify the pharmacology of the drug
  • Explain how the use of exposure in drug development has not been as widely used in characterizing therapeutic ranges in drug development, including a lack of common lexicon for communication
