Tom Shay

Brief Bio : Tom Shay is a fourth-generation small business owner. A native of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Tom’s first job was working in his grandfather's general store. In 1997, Tom sold the business to devote full time to writing magazine columns and books, developing management education courses for manufacturers and association, and speaking at tradeshow and conferences. He shares proven and time-tried ideas on the topics of marketing, business strategy, customer loyalty, business-management design, employee skills development, and financial control. His website, profitsplus.org, is the largest website created for small business with hundreds of articles, and many calculators to assist in making management decisions. The website is provided to all as a free service and is used by many consultants as a tool to help them in their work. Tom has authored twelve books on small business management, a book on vendor relations and a college textbook on small business accounting and business planning. Having written over 400 columns in 75 trade publications, he has been nominated three times for the Jesse H. Neal award for editorial excellence in business media. He has earned the Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) distinction, which has been attained by less than 8 percent of speakers worldwide.
